Maryam Farooqui, Dr

Dr. Maryam Farooqui holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Karachi, Pakistan, a Master’s in Clinical Pharmacy, and a Ph.D. in Social and Administrative Pharmacy from Universiti Sains Malaysia. With 18 years of academic experience, she has served as a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (2006–2016) and as an Associate Professor and Coordinator of Pharmacy Practice at Qassim University, Saudi Arabia (2016–2024). Dr. Farooqui has successfully supervised Ph.D. and Master’s graduates, with additional students currently under her mentorship. An accomplished researcher with an H-index of 22, she has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored several book chapters. Her expertise lies in qualitative research methods, focusing on the role of Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM) in chronic care. Her research also explores patients’ behaviors, medication use, Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL), and the application of the Health Belief Model in managing chronic diseases.

Research Interest 

  1. Exploring the integration and impact of Complementary and Alternative medicines (CAM) on managing chronic diseases, particularly in oncology and other long-term care settings.
  2. Investigating factors influencing the HRQoL of patients with chronic conditions and designing interventions to improve their well-being.
  3. Application of the Health Belief Model to understand patients’ perceptions, behaviors, and adherence to treatments for chronic illnesses.
  4. Pharmaceutical Marketing, consumer behaviour, and ethical practices in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on patient-centered approaches.
