GREEN OFFICE @ PPSF
Universiti Sains Malaysia, through its Institutional Sustainability Division under the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network) (TNC BJIM), has spearheaded sustainability initiatives and introduced the green office concept. All departments are tasked with contributing to the success of this initiative, collectively ensuring the long-term realization of sustainable practices and culture.
In response, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPSF) is adopting and implementing the five main criteria of the green office, striving to integrate and identify the best approaches to achieve the mission of sustainable development on campus.
The 5 criteria and practices are as follows:

- Encourage staff to practice purchasing based on the “Prinsip Perolehan Hijau”, starting from preparing specifications and selecting suppliers who support green and recycling practices.
- All requests for new purchases must reviewed and justified by the officer in charge before approval.
- Procurement will be conducted in bulk order to reduce the frequency of delivery/ transportation.

2. Promote Recycle
Recycle bins are prepared at the prominent sites to increase awareness and encourage the students and staff to discard the recyclable waste accordingly at their convenience.

3. Promote ‘Zero Single Use Plastic’
The staff and students are reminded and encouraged to bring their cutlery sets and avoid using single-use plastic in any event where foods are served.
- Encourage the staff to replace the artificial plants in the office with real green plants.
