BPharm Programme Objectives

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)

  • PEO1: The graduates will be pharmacists who are competent, skillful, resourceful, ethical and professional. 
  • PEO2: The graduates will be pharmacists who are self-reliant with leadership values and critical thinking skills.
  • PEO3: The graduates will be pharmacists who are caring, compassionate and show respect and fairness to others.
  • PEO4: The graduates will be pharmacists who are adaptable to socioeconomics, health, and environmental changes.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO)

The learning outcomes of a pharmacy programme can be grouped into 11 areas. At the end of the programme the students will be able to:

  • PLO1 (Knowledge & Understanding): Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of fundamental and advanced concepts in pharmaceutical sciences, including pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacy practice;
  • PLO2 (Cognitive Skill): Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to evaluate scientific data, clinical evidence, and patient care scenarios for effective decision-making in pharmacy practice;
  • PLO3: (Practical Skill) Perform accurate pharmaceutical calculations, compound medications, and apply laboratory techniques essential for the preparation and quality control of pharmaceutical products;
  • PLO4 (Interpersonal Skill): Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills in interacting with patients, healthcare professionals, and colleagues within the pharmacy setting;
  • PLO5 (Communication Skill): Exhibit proficiency in verbal, non-verbal, and written communication to convey pharmaceutical knowledge, patient care instructions, and professional opinions to diverse audiences;
  • PLO6 (Digital Skill): Utilize digital tools and technologies effectively for information retrieval, data analysis, patient record management, and staying updated with the latest pharmaceutical advancements;
  • PLO7 (Numeracy Skill): Apply mathematical and statistical methods for drug dosage calculations, pharmacokinetic assessments, and the interpretation of research data in pharmacy practice;
  • PLO8 (Leadership, Autonomy & Responsibility): Demonstrate leadership and autonomous decision-making skills in managing pharmacy operations, leading teams, and taking responsibility for patient care outcomes;
  • PLO9 (Personal Skill): Engage in lifelong learning, self-reflection, and personal growth to continuously improve professional competency and adapt to evolving pharmacy practices;
  • PLO10 (Entrepreneurial Skill): Explore and apply entrepreneurial principles in the development and management of innovative pharmacy services and business opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry; and
  • PLO11 (Ethics and Professionalism): Uphold ethical principles, professional behavior, and legal responsibilities in pharmacy practice, in ensuring patient safety and the integrity of the profession.
